The Techginia Internship

We don’t hire interns. We pick builders.

Every year we take a small handful of students and hand them real client work, real ownership, and a founder as a mentor — not coffee runs and a certificate. Most people who land on this page won’t make it through. This page is the first filter.

Hundreds apply. We take six.

We’d rather leave a seat empty than fill it with someone who needs to be told what to do. If that sounds harsh, this isn’t the internship for you — and that’s exactly the point. The bar is the product.

Read this carefully

This isn’t for everyone.

Before you spend an hour on the application, be honest about which column you’re in. Most people stop reading here. The right people lean in.

Don’t apply if
  • –You want a line on your résumé more than a hard problem to chew on.
  • –You need step-by-step instructions before you can start.
  • –“That’s not my job” is somewhere in your vocabulary.
  • –You go quiet the moment something breaks.
  • –You’re looking for a relaxed summer.
Apply if
  • ✓You’ve built things nobody asked you to build.
  • ✓You’d rather own a problem than be handed a task.
  • ✓You get restless when you’re not learning something hard.
  • ✓You finish what you start — even the boring last 20%.
  • ✓You want to be the most junior person in a room of operators.
The work is real

You’ll ship things that actually run.

No mock projects. From week one you work on systems that paying clients depend on — with the support to do it well.

01

Build real CRM & automation

Set up and wire Zoho, Odoo and Salesforce for live clients — pipelines, follow-up automations, the works.

02

Turn messy data into decisions

Take scattered customer data and build the dashboards business leaders actually open every morning.

03

Ship AI workflows

Build practical AI into real revenue work — lead scoring, drafting, summarising — that saves teams real hours.

04

Sit in the room

Join real strategy calls with the founder and clients. Watch how decisions get made — then make some.

05

Own a project

Take something end to end and be accountable for the outcome. We hand you the rope; you earn the trust.

06

Talk to customers

Get in front of real business owners, understand their problem, and translate it into something that ships.

The payoff

What you walk away with — beyond a certificate.

A few months here is worth more than most first jobs. Here’s what you leave with.

i

A portfolio of shipped work

Real projects with real outcomes you can point to — not a slide about a hypothetical.

ii

1:1 founder mentorship

Direct, regular access to the founder. You’ll be coached, stretched, and held to a standard.

iii

A serious network

Into the RevenueMavericks community of founders and operators across 23 cities.

iv

A reference that means something

Earn it, and you get a recommendation people actually take seriously.

v

A shot at a full-time offer

The strongest interns are the first people we call when we hire.

vi

Real range

Sales, marketing, data, CRM, AI and automation — you’ll touch the whole revenue engine, not one corner of it.

How we choose

What we actually screen for.

No secret formula. These are the six things we look hard for — and a strong CGPA on its own won’t get you past them.

01

Evidence you build

Side projects, repos, a club you ran, something you shipped. Proof beats potential.

02

Raw problem-solving

How you break down something you’ve never seen before — credentials are a weak signal of this.

03

Ownership

Do you carry a thing to the finish, or hand off the hard part? We can tell.

04

Clear thinking

Can you explain how you got to an answer? Muddy thinking shows up as muddy writing.

05

Relentless curiosity

The kind that doesn’t switch off at 6pm. You ask the next question without being told to.

06

Comfort with ambiguity

You can move when the brief is one line and nobody’s holding your hand.

The gauntlet

Five stages. Each one a filter.

It’s deliberately hard. Every stage is built to find a reason to say no — so the people who get through have truly earned it.

01

The Application

A few sharp questions — no generic cover letters. We can spot a copy-paste in seconds. Make it specific or don’t bother.

Everyone starts here
02

The Challenge

A real problem to solve on your own time. This is where most applications end — and where the right people come alive.

03

The Conversation

Around 45 minutes with the team. We don’t quiz you on trivia — we probe how you think and how you handle being wrong.

04

The Trial Week

Paid. You work on something real, with us, for a week. The best signal of all is simply working together.

~8% get the trial
05

The Offer

To the very few who fit. If that’s you, you’ll join a small group doing some of the most useful work of your early career.

A note from the founder

I’ll personally know your name.

This isn’t a program run by a coordinator you’ll never meet. With only a few interns a year, I work with each of you directly — on real client problems, with real stakes.

That’s also why the bar is high. I can’t give that kind of attention to fifty people. So we keep it small, we keep it hard, and we keep it honest. You’ll be pushed further than you’ve been pushed before.

If you’re the kind of person who’s been quietly building things and waiting for somewhere that takes you seriously — this is that place. Show me what you’ve made.

Before you ask

The practical details.

Is the internship paid?

Yes. The trial week and the internship are both paid. [Confirm your stipend figure here.] We don’t expect serious work for free.

Is it remote or in-office?

Remote-first, with occasional in-person sessions and meetups. [Adjust to your actual setup.] You’ll need a reliable laptop and internet.

How long does it run, and when can I start?

Selection is rolling through the year, so there’s no single deadline — strong applications are reviewed as they arrive. [Set your duration, e.g. 3–6 months, and any cohort dates here.]

Which year of college do I need to be in?

We’re open to students across years from top campuses. What matters more than your year is what you’ve built and how you think. [Specify eligibility if you want to narrow it.]

Do I need a CRM / coding background?

It helps, but it isn’t a hard gate. We’ve taken people who’d never touched a CRM but learned faster than anyone in the room. Curiosity and follow-through beat a checklist of tools.

What does the Challenge involve?

A real, scoped problem you solve on your own time — usually a few focused hours. There’s no single right answer; we’re reading your thinking, not your luck.

If I’m not selected, can I apply again?

Yes. Plenty of strong people apply twice — having built more in between. We remember the ones who keep showing up better.

Applications are open

Think you’re one of the few?

If you read this far and felt pulled in — not put off — you might be exactly who we’re looking for. The application takes about 60 focused minutes. That’s intentional. Show us what you’ve built.
